The event dedicated to the International Chinese Language Day, organized by the Confucius Institute at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, took place at Gymnasium No. 46 named after Blaise Pascal in Gomel, where optional Chinese language classes have been held during the current academic year.
Among the honorary guests were the employees of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China: the Second Secretary of the Embassy, Mr. Huang Kai, the Third Secretary of the Embassy, Mr. Jia Wei, and the representative of the Association of Chinese Students in the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Men Zelyan.
During the official part of the event, Mr. Jia Wei expressed his gratitude to the Confucius Institute and the leadership of Gymnasium No. 46 named after Blaise Pascal in Gomel for the development and deepening of the cultural ties between China and Belarus. He emphasized that Chinese culture is historically based on the pursuit of peace and mutual understanding among peoples, which is reflected in the philosophy of Confucius.
The speaker at the event, Director of the Confucius Institute from the Belarusian side, Professor A.V. Rogachev, addressed the participants and emphasized the significant role of studying the Chinese language in modern conditions, while also focusing on the activities of the Confucius Institute.
Students from Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, who are attending the "Hieroglyph" courses, performed Chinese folk tales and poetry. A calligraphy performance accompanied by a guzheng playing was presented by the teachers from the Confucius Institute, Sun Xiao and Sun Jota. The audience was particularly impressed by Olga Statcenko's rendition of the song "Bright Light," and Varvara Shilova intrigued the audience with her performance of the folk song "Valenki" in both Chinese and Russian. To conclude the concert, the Chinese language teachers from the Confucius Institute performed the popular Chinese song "Katyusha" in both languages.
The third part of the event, held in the gymnasium's lobby, featured various Chinese games, language contests, and master classes on tea ceremonies, music, and calligraphy. The students were offered engaging activities and contests where they had the opportunity to win prizes provided by the Confucius Institute.
The event aimed to increase the students' interest in studying the Chinese language and culture of China
