Recipients of the prize of the people’s Republic of China ambassador - students of the Confucius Institute at the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University
On December 18th, a ceremony was held at the Belarusian State University of Physical Education for the presentation of the People's Republic of China Ambassador's Award to thirty-six Belarusian students and teachers who achieved great success in the study and teaching of the Chinese language in 2023.
The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of China in our country, Mr. Se Xiao Yun, congratulated Belarusian students and teachers on their achievements and noted that the presentation of the China Ambassador's Award is intended to further encourage the study of the Chinese language and culture by young Belarusians. The Ambassador pointed out that over the thirty-year period of diplomatic relations between our countries, more than 50,000 Belarusians have mastered the language of the Celestial Empire, and in the current academic year, 6,000 Belarusian schoolchildren, gymnasium students, and university students are studying the Chinese language as part of the educational program. At the same time, the desire for cooperation in the field of education is mutual: four Chinese universities have opened a major in “Belarusian language”.
Among the recipients of the China Ambassador's Award are three students of the Confucius Institute at the Francysk Skaryna Hrodna State University: Violetta Beloded, a teacher of the Chinese language and a graduate student of the Department of Russian, General and Slavic Linguistics; Alina Morozova, a 4th-year student of the Faculty of Philology and a Chinese language teacher at Gymnasium No. 10 in Gomel; and Olga Statsenko, a student of Gymnasium No. 56 named after A.A. Vishnevsky, who was a prize winner at the 16th World Chinese Language Bridge Competition.
The award ceremony was attended by the university's rector, S.A. Khakhomov.
