From March 18 to 22, the city volleyball championship among higher education institutions was held at the sports complex of the Belarusian State University of Transport. The girls' volleyball team of the Gomel State University named after F. Skaryna took an honorable first place, defeating the teams of the Gomel Trade and Economic University of Consumer Cooperation (II place) and the Gomel State Medical University (III place). As part of the national team, the honor of GSU was defended by M. Arkova, V. Yaroslavtseva, A. Cherenko, A. Kushcheva, M. Skoblik, A. Papsueva, A. Mukha, Y. Pishchik, M. Stavskaya, V. Klimkova, T. Burtseva, O. Zenevich.
The volleyball team was prepared for the performance by senior teacher of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Andrey Blashkevich.
