On September 14, the City Day was celebrated widely and festively in Gomel. Amidst a kaleidoscope of colors, bright costumes, and lively melodies, the exhibition of the Confucius Institute of our university, located on the banks of the Sozh River, stood out. It is worth noting that the staff of the Institute and the teachers of the Chinese language have accumulated significant experience in organizing similar city events, which is why the platform of the Confucius Institute was organized thoughtfully and creatively.
Chinese teachers in national attire invited all attendees to familiarize themselves with the Chinese tea ceremony, Chinese checkers, and chess, as well as to try their hand at writing hieroglyphs. Participants in the quiz "Do You Know China?" who answered several questions correctly received souvenirs featuring the logo of the Confucius Institute.
As always, there was great interest in the Chinese national instruments – guzhengs, which both adults and young Belarusians had the opportunity to play under the guidance of Chinese girls. For the first time, those who visited the exhibition of the Confucius Institute were able to test their skills in the ancient Chinese game "Tou-khu," which involves hitting standing vessels with arrows.
It is encouraging that many residents of Gomel are already aware of the activities of the Confucius Institute and the opportunity to study the Chinese language under the guidance of teachers from China. The event undoubtedly contributed to the popularization of the Chinese language and culture, as well as to the strengthening of Belarusian-Chinese ties on the eve of a significant holiday – the 75th anniversary of the People's Republic of China, which will be celebrated on October 1 of this year.
