Solemn meetings dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the day of defenders of the Fatherland were held in the regional center on February 22-23.
Tribute to the soldiers of victory at the memorial Complex alley of Heroes, at the monument to the people's militia, at the mass grave of underground heroes and partisans gave the residents of Gomel-the city and region, war and labor veterans, representatives of labor collectives, universities, schools and public organizations.
The glory of those who died during the great Patriotic war was also honored by the representatives of the Gomel State University – teachers and students.
Not left without attention of the younger generation and a memorial plaque on the facade of the building №1, glorifying the heroic deeds of distinguished academicians and honorary professors of the University, participants of the great Patriotic war veterans V. Anichenko, I. F. Kharlamov and M. A. Dmitriev.
Flowers and ritual wreaths are laid to the defenders of the Fatherland.
