From May 17 to May 20, the international scientific and educational forum “Russian traditions of everyday Linguoculture in the Slavic Borderland” was held in the city of Novozybkov, where the branch of I.G. Petrovsky Bryansk State University is located, co-organized by Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. Belarusian and Russian philologists have been looking at a wide range of issues related to the traditional Slavic dwelling in its ethno-cultural and mythological coverage: the house as a model of the person and the surrounding space; the mythological space of the house; utilitarian and ceremonial functions of household items; the influence of confessional ideas on traditional housing; architectural and house-building code of culture; symbolism of the traditional dwelling of the Russian-Belarusian borderland, etc.
Within the framework of the forum, a folklore-dialectological Internet seminar “Symbolism and semantics of traditional elements of the dwelling of the Russian-Belarusian borderland” was held, which was attended by teachers from Bryansk, Gomel, Brest, Mogilev and Mozyr.
The cultural program of the forum was also interesting and rich, represented by a thematic excursion “Rural and urban house: traditions of wooden architecture”, as well as a visit to the artisan's workshop, where one could get acquainted with the objects of folk weaving, artistic forging, pottery and wood carving.
The scientific reports of the forum participants are published in the collection of scientific papers.
