On June 18, the first meeting of the joint Belarusian-Tajik working group on cooperation in the field of science and technology was held in the format of a videoconference. The Belarusian part of the working group was headed by Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Shcherbakov. On behalf of our country, the meeting was also attended by the Director of the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Titok, First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Boleslav Pirshtuk, representatives of universities. Gomel State University was presented by Vice-Rector for Research, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Oleg Demidenko. - The participants agreed that the bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Tajikistan in the field of science and technology has many joint priority areas: information and communication, interdisciplinary, chemical and agro-industrial technologies, renewable energy and energy conservation, medicine and pharmacy, rational use of natural resources, prevention and elimination of consequences natural disasters, environmental protection and much more, - said Oleg Mikhailovich.
According to the results of the discussion, the commission adopted a number of important decisions. The parties agreed to intensify mutual cooperation in the promotion and commercialization of innovative projects, participation in conferences, exhibitions, seminars held in Belarus and Tajikistan. The members of the working groups came to the conclusion that the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, together with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, needs to organize and regularly exchange information on the current state and prospects of development of science and technology, innovative projects and developments. Also, a competition for joint scientific and technical projects for 2021-2022 was announced and the procedure for their financing was approved.
The participants highly appreciated the results of the meeting, noting its constructiveness, and showed interest and commitment to the development of Belarusian-Tajik relations in the field of education and science. The second meeting of the Joint Belarusian-Tajik Commission on Cooperation in Science and Technology will take place in the first quarter of 2022 in the Republic of Tajikistan. It is worth noting that the opportunity to take part in such an event at F. Skorina State University appeared due to the conclusion at the beginning of this year of an agreement between our university and the Kulyab State University named after Abuabdullah Rudaki for 2020-2025.
