From November 14 to 21 in Polish (Gliwice), the first World Championship in short water swimming (25 m) among the Deflympians was held.
Representatives of 24 countries of the world took part in the tournament, and swimmers from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia, Germany and Poland became the best.
The honor of our country, as part of the national team of the Republic of Belarus, was worthily defended by Honored Masters of Sports of the Republic of Belarus, graduates of the Faculty of Physical Training of the F.Skorina Gomel State University.
Oksana Petrushenko won three gold medals and set world records at distances: 200 meters, breaststroke (2:31.93); 100 meters, breaststroke (1:10.37) and 50 meters, breaststroke (32.55). Oksana also became a silver medalist in the 100m complex swimming (1:05.03).
The record of the Republic of Belarus at a distance of 200 meters, on the back (2:25.69) was set by Maria Rudko, who rose to the second step of the podium. Maria won the bronze medal in the 100-meter backstroke (1:05.94).
Also, our girls twice became silver and bronze medalists in relay swimming.
Thanks to the gold that Oksana Petrushenko replenished the shuttle of the Belarusian national team, the Republic of Belarus, losing only to the Russian team, became the second overall in the World Championship.
As part of the national team of the Republic of Belarus, Oksana Petrushenko and Maria Rudko were supported by their coach, Associate Professor of the Department of Sports Disciplines Igor Kornienko.
