On April 9, at a meeting of the University Council, a decision was made to award the Dean of the Faculty of Russian of Shanghai Industry & Commerce Foreign Language College, Director of the Gomel Institute at the Shanghai Professional Institute of Industry, to Professor Wang Baoshi of the title “Honorary Doctor of “Francisk Skorina Gomel State University” for his significant contribution to the development of cooperation and training of highly qualified specialists within the framework of joint educational projects between “Francisk Skorina Gomel State University”, Shanghai Industry & Commerce Foreign Language College (PRC) and Xuzhou Pedagogical University (PRC).
Wang Baoshi is a graduate of Peking University with a degree in Russian Language and Literature, a translator and a specialist in the field of teaching methods of Russian as a foreign language, the author of two textbooks. He has more than 80 publications in Chinese and international journals. One of the developers of the state standard for training and training specialists in the field of business Russian in the PRC.
Wang Baoshi made a significant contribution to the development of pedagogy (personally trained more than 300 philologists) and to the cooperation between Francisk Skorina Gomel State University and higher education institutions of the People's Republic of China within the framework of joint training projects.
In the period from 2006 to 2014 with the assistance and active participation of Wang Baoshi of “Francisk Skorina Gomel State University” and Xuzhou Pedagogical University implemented two projects on joint training of specialists within the framework of the signed Agreement: 34 students graduated from the Faculty of Philology with a bachelor's degree. 8 students of the specialty “Russian Philology” and 4 of the specialty “Mathematics” received a master’s degree. Two more graduates have successfully completed postgraduate studies and received PhD degrees in Philology and Economics.
From 2018 to the present at the Faculty of Philology of “Francisk Skorina Gomel State University” is implementing a project of joint training in the specialty 1-21 05 02-02 Russian Philology (computer software). 5 groups of students (50 people) have already been trained according to the 2.5 + 2 scheme and obtaining a bachelor's degree. Three groups of students (29 people) are currently studying. Also, 9 students graduated from the Master’s degree program in 2022. Another 3 are studying for a master’s degree.
With the active support of Wang Baoshi, the Gomel Institute was opened in 2017 at the Shanghai Industry & Commerce Foreign Language College, and in 2018 the Chinese Language Training Center was opened at “Francisk Skorina Gomel State University” and Shanghai Industry & Commerce Foreign Language College.
