The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Se Xiaoyun, visited Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. During the meeting with the university administration, Rector Sergey Khakhomov shared updates on the development of partnerships with seventeen Chinese educational institutions, the successful operation of the Confucius Institute at Gomel State University, and the joint Belarusian-Chinese educational programs. It was noted that over 300 Chinese students are currently enrolled at the university, and a project is being implemented to provide education in English across four disciplines for students from China. Sergey Anatolyevich expressed gratitude for the support received and confidence in the continuation of successful cooperation.
Ambassador Se Xiaoyun highly praised the achievements in the scientific and educational spheres of both countries, emphasizing the importance and role of inter-university collaboration in achieving these goals. The Ambassador particularly highlighted the status of Chinese-Belarusian relations as a strategic partnership, stressing the need to strengthen political trust and active business interaction, with education playing a key role.
Ambassador Se Xiaoyun also met with Chinese students studying at Gomel State University and expressed appreciation to the university administration for providing an environment filled with attention, care, warmth, and friendship for Chinese students.
The Ambassador was acquainted with the activities of the Confucius Institute at Gomel State University, which was established in 2017 and currently has over 200 students learning Chinese at various levels. The institute's leaders, Alexander Rogachev and Ji Yimin, demonstrated to the Ambassador the educational process in the institute's classrooms, which includes not only language instruction and calligraphy practice but also an understanding of Chinese cultural traditions.
At the conclusion of his visit, Se Xiaoyun sincerely thanked the university administration for their warm welcome and expressed confidence in the expansion and deepening of successful cooperation in joint scientific and educational projects.
