On October 12-13, the Faculty of Philology of Uzhhorod National University (Ukraine) hosted the International Scientific Conference "Phraseology in the Context of Related Sciences", organized in honor of the 80th anniversary of the birth of Doctor of Philology, Professor V.M. Makienko, Honorary Chairman of the Commission on Slavic Phraseology at the International Committee of Slavists. The conference program proved the activity of scientists from different countries: it was attended by more than a hundred phraseologists and paremiologists from Belarus, Germany, Georgia, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and others.
Professors Vladimir Koval, Olga Leshchinskaya, Elena Nichiporchik, and Master's Degree Student of the Faculty of Philology Angelina Aksyonchikova-Birukova presented reports from the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. The conference was held online, led by Doctor of Philology, Professor of Uzhhorod National University, famous phraseologist N.F. Venzhinovich, with whom Gomel colleagues have long-standing ties and strong scientific interests. On the first day of the conference, the plenary session heard reports by Professor of the Belarusian Language Department Olga Leshchinskaya ("Metaphorical Measurement of the Rate of Time in Belarusian Phraseology") and Professor of the Department of Russian, General and Slavic Linguistics Vladimir Koval (“Euphemistic phraseological units in Slavic and Chinese languages”), and on the second day - the report of the Head of the Department of Russian, General and Slavic Linguistics Elena Nichiporchik (“On the issue of innovation in paremiological research”).
