Every year, the Department of Russian, General and Slavic Linguistics at the Faculty of Philology of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University holds a thematic event dedicated to the Day of the Native Language. The Belarusian proverb "Slova da slova– budze mova" became the motto of the meeting held on February 21, 2023.
This year, an important traditional event designed to remind about the need for careful attitude to the native language, was the beginning of a joint research marathon initiated by the Department of Philology of the Novosibirsk State Technical University of NETI. Students and teachers from different countries took an active part in the sociolinguistic issue of the status of the native language, the problems associated with its study and preservation, and government programs aimed at supporting the native language.
The results of the sociolinguistic marathon will be discussed by partner universities from Belarus and Russia on May 17, 2023 at a scientific event in the format of a round table "The Russian Word: the view of young researchers" dedicated to the Year of the Russian Language.
