The Second Festival of Literature, Art and Folk Traditions "In the Land of Kyrill of Turov" and the XV International Literary Festival "Slavic Literary Dazhynki-2020" are held on September 1-14 in the hospitable Gomel region. As part of the program, on September 10 a meeting of participants - leaders of writers' organizations of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine - with the leadership of the leading higher education institution of Gomel region, students and teachers of philology took place in the conference hall of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. Rector of GSU, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics S.A. Khakhomov made a speech of greeting. Representatives of literary organizations of Russia and Ukraine shared with the audience their creative achievements, read poems, discussed the prospects for the development of literature in modern society.
The participants of the meeting unanimously supported the initiative to erect monuments to the famous Belarusian writer Yanka Maur and his son Fyodor Ivanovich Fyodorov, the founder of the Belarusian school of theoretical physics, near the university building. This idea were proposed by the corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences A.M. Serdyukov and the head of the Department of Belarusian Literature, Doctor of Philology I.F. Steiner
