In September 2015 the General Assembly of the United Nations accepted a resolution 70/1 “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” and 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Belarus expressed its adherence to Agenda 2030 and took a number of steps for its implementation nationwide.
An open context “The young leaders for the sustainable development goals – future of the planet is in our hands” was organized with a view to popularization of the Sustainable Development goals. More than 200 participants – students of the higher education institutions of the Republic of Belarus – were involved in the competition. Ilya Borovtsov, student of the Department of ecology (Faculty of geology and geography, GSU) was the only representative of Gomel region at this contest. His research supervisor was Oksana Kovalyova, Head of the department of ecology. At the first stage of the contest the students chose one of the aims and published motivation messages in the social networks, at the second – developed plans of actions (projects, programmes), aiming at achievement of their goals.
