Francisk Skorina Gomel State University and Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University have embarked on the implementation of a new long-term project ERASMUS + “From University to Labour market in the 21st century: a step forward in work-based placements- UniLab” as part of an international consortium of universities.
The project is implemented by a consortium of 12 universities in Belarus, Spain, France, Austria, Russia, and Azerbaijan. The purpose of the project is modernization of the system of higher education, aimed at strengthening of cooperation between enterprises and universities, increasing the graduates’ employment level during the development and implementation of relevant academic disciplines, undergoing practical training on an innovative model, the purpose of which is to study under actual production conditions.
The project aims to resolve labor market problems, including career guidance, youth unemployment, and cooperation between educational institutions and enterprises.
The implementation of the project will help to increase students' awareness of employers and the specifics of the labor market, introduce innovative approaches to the organization of production practices, disseminate business education and support graduates in the labor market. Establishing close contacts between universities and enterprises will improve the system of training highly qualified personnel with the necessary competencies.
The improving of training programs and the introduction of a competence-based model of industrial work placement will help harmonize the process of training specialists with the needs of the production sector. During the implementation of the project, an effective model of interaction between universities and business will be created, as well as a network of international student career centres. All this allows us to talk about the real long-term impact of the project on higher education, business and the labor market.
