The results of the IV annual university-wide competition of business projects "My Startup" were summed up on June 2. The competition was organized by the Startup-GSU business school. This year 35 university students took part in the competition, and three reached the final. For 7 months the following specialists worked with the students:
• Sergei Azyavchikov - director of the Startup-GSU business school;
• Andrey Chernyak - an entrepreneur, a business mentor, over 7 years in business, he founded and sold 5 companies from scratch;
• Sergey Kuzmin - entrepreneur, writer, has 7 years’ experience of management activity;
• Tatiana Shevtsova is a consultant psychologist, art therapist, project manager, entrepreneur, author and host of HR programs.
Once every two weeks, mentors held startup seminars, meetups, workshops, master classes. Students were able to navigate the modern service market, understand the legislative intricacies of doing business, and also choose a specific niche in business. The jury of the competition, in addition to mentors, included the head of the research sector of the GSU Ruslan Borodich.
A few words about the finalists of the competition.
Egor Kustov is a 4th year student of the Faculty of Law, during his participation in the competition he created the first beauty coworking in Gomel - this is a specially equipped room in which beauty and health specialists (make-up artists, barbers, masseurs) can provide their services to people. The owner makes money by providing equipped workplaces.
Maxim Tamkov is a 1st year student of the Faculty of Geology and Geography. During the period of the competition, he earned sufficient amount of money to pay for his studies in the next academic year. He got involved in the sale of tulips by March 8 in Zhlobin.
Mikhail Tsukanov is a 4th year student of the Faculty of Mathematics and Programming Technologies, one of the most experienced entrepreneurs among the finalists. Last year, Mikhail completed the “Speed” –a training program at Like Center by Ayaz Shabutdinov, one of the largest business training companies in the CIS. Mikhail opened a social media marketing (SMM) company as part of the “My Startup” competition.
The winner of the competition was the 4th year student of the Faculty of Law, Yegor Kustov and his project "beauty coworking". He was awarded the title of "Student-entrepreneur No. 1 of GSU" for the 2019/2020 academic year, as well as the winner's cup. All finalists were awarded with diplomas of victory in the competition.
