In late May - early June 2020, the national stage of the XIII World Competition "Bridge of the Chinese Language" among students of general secondary education institutions of the Republic of Belarus was held in Minsk on the basis of the Confucius Republican Institute of Sinology of the Belarusian State University. The theme of this year's competition was formulated as follows: "Chasing the dream of the Chinese language we cherish a wonderful time." For objective reasons, the competition was held remotely. By May 30, each of its participants submitted two videos: the first was to tell about themselves and their interest in the Chinese language, and the second was to present a creative performance based on their own interests. A total of 19 Belarusian boys and girls took part in the prestigious competition. 
The Confucius Institute at the Skorina State University was represented by Anastasia Budkova and Vadim Gudim, students of the Gomel State Regional Lyceum, who over the past several years studied Chinese at courses at the Confucius Institute. Zhang Rongxuan was their teacher for the current academic year. In addition, students from two gymnasiums of Gomel participated in the competition: Vasilisa Zheleznova (gymnasium No. 10, teacher A.G. Sukolen) and Viktor Anikin (gymnasium No. 71, teacher A.A. Aksenchikova-Biryukova). Anastasia Budkova took 2nd place at the national stage of the World Competition. Anastasia was especially successful in her creative performance, in which she told about the heroic warrior girl Hua Mulan, who left to fight for the Motherland instead of her elderly father and rose to the rank of general by the end of the 12-year war. Anastasia Budkova, a graduate of the Regional Lyceum, took an active part in various events held by the Confucius Institute, in city, regional and republican Olympiads in the Chinese language, in the competition "Bridge of the Chinese language" -2019.
A year ago, during a two-week trip to China, she studied Chinese language and culture of the Middle Kingdom. Anastasia plans to get higher education in the specialty "Modern computer technologies" in one of the most famous universities in China, a partner university of our Confucius Institute - at the Nanjing University of Science and Technology.
