“The Skorina Gomel State University has created a mobile application "GSU Applicant" for convenient access to the Internet resources of the testing center, “- told the press service of the university. “ Using the application through a mobile device, you can quickly receive up-to-date information about the admission campaign at the university, centralized testing, pre-submit copies of documents for admission, and track the competitive situation.” The press service noted that for many years the section "GSU Applicant" has been a part of the university website. However, it is not always convenient to view some information, especially tables, using mobile devices.
That is why the head of the GSU testing center, Dmitry Khodanovich, suggested developing a mobile application for easy access for applicants to the reference materials of the center and their personal account. Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Information Technologies Dmitry Kovalenko proposed to implement this task for the fourth-year students of the specialty "Computer Physics" Nestor Fedin and Dmitry Kostyuchenko. "They have successfully implemented all the necessary functional elements of the mobile application," Dmitry Kovalenko said. “During the development, we provided for storing data in the device's memory, thought over the display options when switching the device orientation, solved the problem of application behavior in the event of a network outage, tested each element.
The integrated development environment Android Studio (Android platform) and Java language, as well as Xcode environment (iOS platform) and Swift language were used.” Dmitry Kovalenko added that technical and cosmetic changes were made to the sections of the university website, which will improve the user experience with the application. The free app is already available on Google Play and AppStore.
