The BisonRace obstacle race, in which athletes from Italy, Ukraine, Russia and Belarus took part, took place from 7 to 9 August at the Logoisk ski sports and recreation complex. About a thousand fans of extreme running tested themselves for strength and endurance, willpower and character. Bison Race is a mixture of trail running and crossfit. The participant must, in the shortest possible time, overcome the route on which artificial (barriers, slides, electric current, "gladiators", various climbing frames and weights, ropes, high walls) and natural (ravines, swamps, lakes) obstacles are placed. In Belarus, such competitions have been held since 2015, and this time Maria Kostyrko, a teacher of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of our university, took part in them. the athlete tried her hand at this kind of running аor the first time, she chose the Open group and covered a distance of 7.5 km with 40 obstacles of varying degrees of difficulty. Maria shared her impressions of the competition: - It was especially pleasant to receive an unusual medal at the finish line, which will remind of incredible emotions and indelible impressions. I will also remember for a long time the "initiation into buffalo", when I had to dive into a pit with cold water and mud; and the way I ran dirty and wet, overcoming logs and poles; and how I pulled a heavy forty-kilogram concrete slab with my last strength. I will never forget jumping over fire and running on a 5-meter (just imagine!) springboard.
According to Maria, "it was all like a struggle for survival, which, nevertheless, I would like to repeat next year." We wish good luck to our extreme sports lover!
