Republican Universiade 2021in chess and draughts was held at the Republican Center for Olympic Training in Chess and Draughts on March 18-19. Composite student teams of higher education institutions played in 8 rounds according to the Swiss system. Time control was 10 minutes per game for each participant + 5 seconds per move, starting from the first one.
The composite team of Belarusian State University of Physical Culture became the winner of the Universiade. The Belarusian State University team came second. The 3rd place was taken by the team of Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics
The team of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University fought with dignity striving to get on the podium and eventually took the 8th place. Besides, we have a man to be proud of! Maxim Ivannikov, a student of the Faculty of Mathematics and Programming Technologies, took a special prize "For the best technique" of the Belarusian Association of Student Sport by the decision of the main panel of judges of the competition.
