On September 28, the First International Scientific and Practical Conference "Prospects for tourism development in modern conditions: global trends and regional contexts" was held. The event was organized by the Department of Tourism of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus, the State Institution "National Agency" for Tourism and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The conference is dedicated to the World Tourism Day and the 20th anniversary of the National Tourism Agency.
Plenary and breakout sessions were organized at the President Hotel in Minsk. At the opening of the plenary session, in a welcoming address by Sergej Koval'chuk, Minister of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus, it was emphasized that tourism is becoming an important means of civic and patriotic education of young people and preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of the country.
The breakout sessions continued to discuss key trends and prospects for the development of the tourism industry at the present stage. The head of the Department of Intercultural Communications and International Tourism Tat'jana Pochinok made a report "Features of specialized training of specialists for the tourism industry", which is published in the conference proceedings.
An excursion presentation of sports tourism was organized for the participants of the event on the example of the state cultural and sports institution "Chizhovka Arena". A unique, comprehensive and multidisciplinary potential for training athletes was demonstrated.
