The Francisk Skorina Gomel State University has many years of experience (more than 30 years) in teaching Chinese citizens, cooperation with universities and scientific organizations in China and other countries. Many graduates of the faculties of Physics, Mathematics, Economics have defended their PhD and doctoral dissertations in Belarus and are successfully working in China.
In the international Webometrics ranking of the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University ranks 3rd among the universities of the Republic of Belarus and 3746th in the world (among more than 30 thousand universities). In addition, the university is represented in the QS EECA ranking - place from 251 to 300.
The University has 21 cooperation agreements with educational and scientific institutions of the People's Republic of China. In December 2017, at the Shanghai Professional Institute of Industry, Commerce and Foreign Languages (Shanghai, China), a branch of the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, on the basis of which a program of joint training of specialists in the specialty “Russian Philology” is being implemented. Since December 20, 2017, The Institute of Confucius has been functioning at the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, established jointly with the Nanjing University of Science and Technology with the support of the Main Directorate of Confucius Institutes in China. On May 28, 2019, the opening of the Center for the Study of Belarus at the Nanjing University of Science and Technology took place. In 2022, it is planned to implement a joint educational program of the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University with Heze University (Heze, China) for the training of specialists in the specialty “Physics”. The university successfully operates joint research laboratories:
- Since 2012, the International Chinese-Belarusian Scientific Laboratory for Vacuum-Plasma Technologies (jointly with the Nanjing University of Science and Technology);
- Since 2019, the International Chinese-Belarusian Scientific Laboratory of Electromagnetic Metamaterials and Technology of Multifunctional Plasma Coatings (together with the Beijing Polytechnic Institute).
Within the framework of the Belarusian-Chinese joint research program at the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University in 2018-2022, 6 scientific projects are being carried out, within which scientists of our university work with colleagues from Jiangnan University (3 projects), Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Taiyuan Technical University, Beijing Polytechnic Institute. Every year, Chinese citizens enroll in bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate programs at the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. In 2021, 1,075 foreign citizens from 21 countries of the world studied at the university. For 5 years, the university has been training foreign students in English.

A strict system of monitoring the daily attendance of students has been established at the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. In order to maintain the high quality of the educational process and ensure that students complete their curricula, daily monitoring of the conduct and attendance of classes by students and their performance of educational tasks has been established. Students attend research seminars, during which consultations are held with scientific supervisors. Many international students have proven themselves in scientific work. Students from among the citizens of the People’s Republic of China participate in conferences held at the university, in Belarus and abroad. The high level of their scientific training is confirmed by the availability of scientific publications.
Francisk Skorina Gomel State University strictly implements the Order of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus No. 577 dated July 29, 2021 “On measures to improve the quality of training at the II stage of higher education”. The training of undergraduates is carried out directly within the walls of the university. The teaching staff with a high level of English proficiency is involved in the educational process. Scientific and methodological support of the educational process meets the requirements for institutions of higher education of the Republic of Belarus. In accordance with the curriculum, each undergraduate is provided with educational literature and teaching materials. Individual consultations for foreign undergraduates are held on a regular basis. There is the necessary amount of computer equipment and the corresponding software.
Admission of foreign citizens (acceptance of documents, entrance tests and enrollment) is carried out in strict accordance with the Rules of Admission of persons for higher education of the II stage, approved by Resolution No. 110 of the Council of the Ministry of the Republic of Belarus of February 2, 2012. The cases of admission to the magistracy of foreign citizens who do not speak the language of instruction and professional knowledge in volumes sufficient to master the content of the educational program of higher education of the II stage are excluded.
The organization of training sessions, strict control of the current and final certification of foreign citizens studying for a master’s degree, with their presence in classrooms and laboratories of educational institutions, taking into account all measures to prevent infection caused by coronavirus.
The University has taken all possible measures to ensure a high level of the educational process. The classroom fund is furnished and equipped with modern classrooms and computer tables, chairs, armchairs, classroom boards and technical training facilities. There is Internet access. For the training of undergraduates there are 40 computer classes for 475 workplaces, with a total area of 2234 sq.m. The total amount of library collections in English is 48,000 copies. Of these, textbooks and teaching aids – 1,173 copies. There are 4 copies per one foreign student.
