On the eve of the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, which is celebrated on April 2, an excursion to the exhibition hall of the Gomel Regional Folk Art Center was organized at the preparatory department of the Institute of Advanced Training.
Foreign students got acquainted with the culture and subjects of folk art of Belarus and Russia. Products made of straw, wood, linen, flax, leather and clay were presented in the exhibition hall. Each participant of the event could not only visually evaluate the presented products, but also ask questions about natural materials and techniques of their manufacture.
Handmade towels with Belarusian ornaments, as well as linen clothes aroused great interest among foreign citizens. As it turned out, all foreign listeners are familiar with the Russian national wooden toy in the form of a painted doll – matryoshka.
In the exhibition hall, in addition to elements of Belarusian national attributes, there is an exposition of children's art works “Infinity Picasso” by the winners of the competition from different regions and other countries in the style of Pablo Picasso. Foreign listeners were happy to take photos against the background of the presented paintings and emotionally expressed their impressions in Russian.
Such educational events are regularly organized at the preparatory department among foreign students. They favorably influence the relationships in study groups consisting of representatives of different countries and cultures, and extracurricular communication contributes to the activation and consolidation of knowledge of the studied language.
