Nanjing University of Science and Technology has opened an exhibition dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Confucius Institute at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University

On February 28, the library of the Nanjing University of Science and Technology hosted the opening of a photo exhibition dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the Confucius Institute at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. The title of the exhibition is "Spring morning in the Land of Ten Thousand Lakes". The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Xi Zhanwen University, the current and former directors of the Confucius Institute from the Chinese side, the heads of the organizational department, the personnel Department, the Finance Department, the International Department, the Institute of Foreign Languages, the Institute of International Education, the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, the dean of the Faculty of Electronics and Optoelectronics, the head of the library and a representative of the Belarusian students. Xi Zhanwen said in his opening speech that February 28 coincides with the first day of the visit of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to China, and the exhibition of achievements of the Confucius Institute at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University is a demonstration and evidence of the Chinese-Belarusian friendship. The Confucius Institute at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University aims to promote Chinese education and promote Chinese culture among Belarusians. But it is also an important platform for us to better understand foreign culture and promote exchange and mutual learning between the peoples of China and Belarus. Thanks to the joint efforts of Gomel State University and Nanjing University of Science and Technology, the Confucius Institute has achieved significant results over the past five years. The speaker expressed hope that more teachers and students who participate in cooperation will contribute to the development of the Confucius Institute.

The Chinese director of the Chinese-Belarusian International Joint Laboratory of Vacuum-Plasma Technologies, Professor of the Chemical Academy Jiang Xiaohong and Professor of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University Alexander Rogachev are the initiators of cooperation between the two universities and the founders of scientific and technical cooperation within the Confucius Institute. She spoke about her more than 20 years of cooperation with Gomel scientists and about the inextricable ties with Gomel State University, wishing a bright future to the Confucius Institute at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, even greater scientific achievements to all Gomel colleagues. The first Chinese director of the Confucius Institute, Wang Lei, noted that the exhibition of achievements of the Confucius Institute fully demonstrated its development. Over the past five years, the Confucius Institute has actively promoted Chinese education and spread Chinese culture in the Gomel region, which was warmly welcomed by the local population. In addition, the Confucius Institute has further deepened scientific and technical cooperation and exchanges between the two universities by holding a Chinese-Belarusian scientific and technical seminar, creating jobs, jointly submitting applications for research projects, publishing articles and writing monographs.

Liu Yiming, a representative of the volunteers who worked and are working as teachers of the Confucius Institute, said that the Confucius Institute in Gomel is a bridge for mutual learning between the civilizations of the two countries, and his three–year volunteer work at the Confucius Institute is an invaluable treasure in his life. A graduate of the Confucius Institute at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University Anastasia Budkova, a current student of the Nanjing University of Science and Technology, expressed her love and respect for the Chinese language and culture of China, thanked the teachers of the Confucius Institute, wished him successful development. The opening ceremony of the exhibition was presided over by the head of the international Department Zhang Heng. Deputy Head of the International Department Xu Xu told the participants of the exhibition the history of the Confucius Institute at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. Belarus is known as the country of ten thousand lakes, and the Chinese education, like the autumn wind, penetrates into the hearts of people. This is the main theme of the exhibition dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Confucius Institute at the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. The exhibition, located in the east side of the library of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, will be open from February 28 to March 3.
