Creating the world of the future through learning

The Faculty of Physics and Information Technologies of the Skorina Gomel State University opened a robotics class of the Gomel Technopark. The project has become the next step towards the development and strengthening of partnership between organizations. Sergei Khakhomov, Rector of F. Skorina State University, noted in his speech that this is not the first experience of interaction with colleagues in the field of information technologies for the university.

“The Francisk Skorina Gomel State University has a laboratory for engineering and technical creativity of senior pupils and the students of STEM-Hub. This project is the result of close collaboration with the Education for the Future Association and Mastercard Corporation. Representatives of our university became the winners of the first city hackathon in the Gomel Technopark. On the basis of the university, with the support of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, a hackathon of socially significant projects was organized. Students of the Faculty of Physics and IT were also among the winners of the hackathon, ”said Sergei Anatolyevich. The curriculum is unique as it includes classes on the basics of programming in the Scratch language, programming of electronic devices and a virtual smart home based on RobboScratch and Arduino Wiring technologies, mobile robotics, circuitry, as well as 3D modeling and printing.

Director of the Gomel Technopark Dmitry Morozov stressed that training allows to gain new knowledge and to reveal their creative potential. “This is an attempt to create an eco-environment where high school students start learning in a university setting. We want to turn the guys, absorbed in gadgets, from consumers of software products into its producers,”noted Dmitry. Classes will be held at the Faculty of Physics and Information Technology. The students will be trained by specialists who have completed an internship at the educational center of the "ROBBO" company in St. Petersburg. The curriculum used by teachers is included in the educational curriculum of more than 70 school institutions in the Russian Federation and Finland.
