Students from Francisk Skorina Gomel State University visited School No. 26 to tell the younger generation about the profession of journalism. The event for 8th and 10th grade students was organised and conducted by second-year journalism students.
Instead of boring lectures, the schoolchildren were treated to a dynamic and interactive format. The students prepared a series of master classes and games for the high schoolers, which showed them what modern journalism is all about in practice. The pupils tried their hand at creating news headlines and deciphering ‘emoji news’ – a popular format on social media today.
The meeting took the form of a friendly dialogue, with the pupils actively asking questions that interested them.
It is planned that similar career guidance visits to schools in the city will continue, and Gomel high school students will have even more opportunities to learn from the inside about the exciting and dynamic profession of journalism.
